Cathedral Falls

Lanao del Norte is known to be the Land beauty and bounty, because of its rich and diverse culture, loaded with natural resources, beautiful sceneries and the people leaves in harmony. The land and beauty province is composed of 22 Municipalities and one of those Municipalities and  a very progressive Town is Kapatagan (drive from the word “Patag”) and also identified as the center of eco-tourism and the home the renowned Kahumayan Festival.

Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte is a 2^nd class Municipality and having 33 Barangays , posses with these three (3) geological settings the upland, the low land and the coastal area which it is identified by the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region X (10) Kapatagan to be the center of eco-tourism of the said Province.

Kapatagan is famous not just because of the Kahumayan Festival and a progressive town, it’s also been recognized by having one of a kind water stream the Cathedral Falls. This falls is located at Barangay Waterfalls (also address of what they called “The Mini Forest”), boundary between the Barangay Cathedral. Don’t be confuse, it’s  just a name of the two (2) Barangays, Bryg. Cathedral and Bryg. Waterfalls were named because of the Cathedral Waterfalls.

 Cathedral Falls is named because of its natural shape rock formation just like Cathedral Church. Below the stream u can see large box shape of rocks, naturally fall from above the well rock formed of the falls. You will be stun shock amaze and even surprised of how Mother Nature created this kind of astonishing picture.

People say this falls is also known to be enchanted the home of nonhuman creatures (well every falls has its own negative side haha). They also say that this falls is already claimed three (3) lives, so everything is cleared why it’s known to be enchanted. But some says, the cause of those lives was all accidents if they really evaluate or consider what really happened.

I also interviewed some of the locals and found out that this falls has its on myth. This myth is not about how the falls was created. There are some humors that this falls is not just an ordinary falls, underneath the downstream of the falls (below the water) there’s and entrance, a hole that will lead you inside the Cathedral Falls, and when you’re inside, you will notice a lot of stone tables and benches that been naturally formed and you can see also different valuable stones. The locals believed that this is not just a waterfalls, it’s a Cathedral Church Falls.

Cathedral Falls is on top ten of the most beautiful falls to be seen in the island of Mindanao. It’s a 3 kilometer away from the Municipal Town Hall and very accessible of course, the falls is just besides the Municipal road.
